Leah Parry, Data Scientist | ITPS

Careers fairs are a great way to recruit new talent onto our team. As part of our mission to drive a new technology focus through the business we’re always looking to connect with people who bring a fresh perspective.  

Durham University graduate Leah Parry recently joined us a Data Scientist in our Product team, straight from her four-year integrated Master’s degree in Mathematics and Statistics.  

Working alongside our two Data Science interns, Leah’s role involves using data to understand patterns, gain insights, and make recommendations that enable better business decisions.

“So many organisations still don’t realise the value that lies in the huge amount of data they have, or how to use it to their benefit,” she says.

“By collating and managing data we can help our customers analyse buying behaviour and customer satisfaction patterns, assess product development and investigate business issues. It’s all about delivering actionable insights. The smart use of data can shine a light into every corner of an organisation.

The explosion in AI and machine learning presents so many opportunities, and I’m very excited about the potential, particularly within the data science field. Having this as part of our suite of expertise extends the value we can offer to our customers.”

One of a growing number of women studying tech subjects, Leah completed an internship on decolonising the Mathematics department with her work promoting accessibility, and improving inclusivity, in mathematics.  

Addressing the imbalance in STEM subjects is one of her passions, and she also volunteers at a maths education charity, which was set up to encourage more young students into maths subjects, and open the doors to a wide range of career choices.
