ITPS Achieves Major Cyber-Security Award
Posted on: 18th January 2023
We’re delighted to announce that ITPS has been awarded certification body status under the government-backed Cyber Essentials programme, marking us out as one of only four North East organisations approved as an independent expert assessor of organisations looking to demonstrate their commitment to guarding against cyber attack.
We deliver intelligent technology solutions across cloud, network services, cyber security, managed services, and data and analytics, and Cyber Essentials services have formed part of our portfolio since the government launched the programme in 2014 as part of the National Cyber Strategy.
Now the UK’s flagship cyber security programme, Cyber Essentials sees organisations assessed against a set of key technical IT criteria. Security experts then run extensive tests to identify any weak areas where attackers could gain access, and the results are assessed by independent auditors such as ITPS.
Achieving certification status saw Simon Hopkin, our Head of Cyber Security here at ITPS, go through a rigorous process of high level training and exams.
“We are delighted with this win, which is the stamp of quality on our ability to help organisations of all sizes and in all sectors strengthen their cyber security defences and puts us in the top tier of experts able to help organisations demonstrate their practical commitment to cyber security,” said Simon.
“The threat landscape has never been more serious, and the latest report from the National Cyber Security Centre points to prevention best practices, rather than detection, as the first area organisations should consider to minimise potential exposure to an attack.
“As a trusted supplier to organisations from large blue chip companies to SMEs and small charities, our role is to help them become more secure and protected from attack as they securely embrace digital technologies.
“Cyber Essentials is a really useful process, digging deep into organisations to help them guard against the most common cyber threats and close supply chain vulnerabilities, which are a prime target for hackers. It shows their clients and partners that they take cyber security seriously, and is becoming mandatory for public sector contracts particularly within the NHS, and is helping to improve the overall cyber resilience of the UK.
“Our new status puts us in an elite group of cyber security experts in the UK, and allows us to offer clients a fast track, end to end service through Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus.
“It is a testament to the skill and hard work of our specialist cyber security team.”
